Objetivo/Visión
INFRAFRONTIER aims to build a world-class research infrastructure that provides the biomedical research community with the tools needed to unravel the role of gene function in human disease. Objectives: (1) INFRAFRONTIER will shape the European Research Area in the field of mouse functional genomics and thereby make an important contribution to the study of human disease. (2)INFRAFRONTIER will set standards for systemic phenotyping of mouse models and for archiving and distribution of mouse mutants in Europe. (3)INFRAFRONTIER will offer highest-quality services and cutting-edge technologies provided by the leading labs in Europe. (4)INFRAFRONTIER will disseminate knowledge by state-of-the-art training courses..
Servicios ofrecidos
Generación de modelos animales (fundamentalmente ratones, también ratas) de interés en biomedicina, criopreservación de embriones y/o esperma, archivo y distribución de los modelos animales mantenidos en el archivo europeo de ratones mutantes (EMMA), integrado en Infrafrontier. Fenotipación sistemática de los modelos animales a través de las clínicas de ratones. Animales axénicos (sin microbiota o con microbiotas definidas).
Organización de la infraestructura
Infrafrontier está formado esencialmente por tres tipos de servicios: GENERACIÓN, ARCHIVO, FENOTIPACIÓN. No todos los miembros de Infrafrontier prestan todos los servicios.
Gobernanza Europea
The INFRAFRONTIER GmbH was created as a non-profit organisation to coordinate the transnational acitivities of the INFRAFRONTIER Research Infrastructure. It is seated in Germany at the Helmholtz Zentrum München. The establishment of the INFRAFRONTIER GmbH is based on a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Germany, France, Czech Republic, Finland, Greece and the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL).
Representantes del nodo español
España no forma parte de Infrafrontier GmbH, pero si forma parte de Infrafrontier, la infraestructura europea, a través de EMMA (European Mouse Mutant Archive), formado por 16 nodos en 13 estados miembros o asociados (Israel). El nodo español está en el CNB del CSIC en Madrid.
